Feather Alternatives: by Sue Patten

 

Not every quilt screams for feathers... join Sue and discover a world of alternative designs to create movement and texture. These free motion designs are great for blocks, sashing and to use on borders of quilts that scream for “anything but feathers”. This class is for all levels of quilters and offers everything from light to intense quilting options sue will discuss batting, thread choices and touch on how design alters the overall look of the finished quilt top. If you are looking for unique design ideas for all those quilts that need more then the “oh so common feather” then come quilt your way to a whole new world of design ideas.

 

Thread Art Extreme: by Sue Patten

 

Have you ever wanted to thread art on your longarm? Come and see how fun and easy it can be. This class is based on Sue’s thread counting technique and takes you step-by-step through 4 stages of thread art. From outline texture straight through to full fill in thread art tapestry. Using a variety of different threads to shade and highlight original flower designs, as seen on The Quilt Show and America Sews. Students will use a multitude of cotton variegated threads and learn to master many different thread color exchanges and deal with each brand to create perfect tension both front and back. She will discuss batting and which is best for reversible and one sided thread art. She will show you how easy it is to complete your beautiful works of art by adding texture with her unique background fillers!! Sue will have many of her award winning quilts on display during the class for student to examine up close and personal. Come experience a world of beauty created with thread, in this high speed, heart pounding, thread art extreme!! All supplies needed in class including the pre marked designs that will be worked on and all the threads required to complete the class sample will be supplied by Sue.

 

 

 

Free Motion Possibilities: by Sue Patten

 

This fast-paced class is packed full of inspiration. Based on Sue’s book “Quilting Possibilities... Freehand Filler Patterns” students will create unique quilt designs for five everyday quilt blocks. These are quilt designs that can be free motion quilted for clients to create a full custom quilt, in no time at all. Using a three-step method, discover how quick, easy and accurate free motion quilting can be. These designs are intended to be used for the everyday client quilts we earn our living quilting. So leave those templates and marking tools behind and come experience the excitement of free motion possibilities. Books will be available for purchase at the end of class however the hand outs cover all designs mastered in class so the book does not need to be purchased by the students to take the class. If you already have the book and would like Sue to personalize it for you please feel free to bring it with you to class. This class will also have an open discussion on charging your clients for custom quilting, thread choices, and batting selection.

 

 

Free Motion Possibilities For The True Beginner: By Sue Patten

 

This class is designed to inspire and assist the beginner to become confident with their ability to use free motion designs and techniques for themselves and their clients. This class is packed full of info for the beginner. While mastering the skill of free motion quilting, we will discuss threads, tension, how batting affects both, and how to offer our new fond skills to our clients and how it is charged out. These designs are for everyday quilt blocks we as longarms deal with every day. It offers a quick, easy, accurate way to increase not only your quilting skills but your client base as well. I recommend this class to anyone who has never tried free motion quilting or those who are new to the longarm quilting world.  So put away those marking tools and turn off that laser light and join us for this free motion block party!!!

A Quilters Jouney

 

Come and travel through a quilter's journey as Sue Patten shares her quilting experiences through hilarious stories while she shares a full array of quilts. The journey starts with a few of her hand quilted pieces and takes you through time until she reveals her many award winning 'Thread Art Quilts" of all sizes. Sue Patten started her journey seventeen years ago and has gone from self taught, closet hand quilter to award winning, internationally acclaimed Longarm quilter, Designer and Author. She has traveled around the world teaching the art of Longarm quilting, a journey that has taken her to Germany, France, England and throughout the US and Canada. Her "Trunk Show" offers a variety of quilting styles as she makes her way through the years and explores all aspects offered in the Quilt Industry.
