CMQA Workshop Series / Onatrio Arts Council

Thread Art Extreme

Have you ever wanted to thread art on your longarm? Come and see how fun and easy it can be. Sue will take you step-by-step from outline texture straight through to full fill in thread art tapestry, using a variety of different threads to shade and highlight designs, as seen on The Quilt Show and America Sews. She will discuss batting and thread choices and touch on reversible quilts using top and bobbin work. She will show you how easy it is to create beautiful works of art using variegated threads, and explore added texture with her unique background fillers to complete your future works of art!! Come experience a world of beauty created with thread in this high speed, heart pounding, Thread Art Extreme!!

Feather Alternatives

Not every quilt screams for feathers... join Sue and discover a world of alternative designs to create movement and texture. These free motion designs are great for blocks and sashing, and to use on borders of quilts that scream for anything but feathers. This class is for all levels of quilters and offers everything from light to intense quilting options. Sue will discuss batting, thread choices and touch on how design alters the overall look of the finished quilt top. If you are looking for unique design ideas for all those quilts that need more than the oh so common feather then come quilt your way to a whole new world of design ideas.

*This Class features some of the designs found in Sue's new book "Adaptable Quilting Designs*

Free Motion Edge to Edge/ All Over Designs

NO marking, NO turning of the quilt, and NO pantos needed!!! Come learn how quick and easy those quilts can be done using free motion. This class covers design ideas, threads, batting, texture and movement to create evenly distributed quilting. In addition, students will learn how to create and quilt outside borders without having to turn the quilt!! Students will learn everything from soft flowing feather designs to all out feather alternatives. Imagine being able to complete those customer quilts in half the time with no math and designs that interlock and fit perfectly from the first row to the last every time. Come join in this all out edge-to-edge, all over, free motion, extravaganza!

Stunning Sashings

This class is packed full of new and unique designs for sashings. This is a fast-paced class that explores the balance between design and texture. Students will build confidence in their free motion skills while learning new designs created to maximize the art of texture to enhance any quilt that comes your way. This is not your average traditional designs, but rather new and innovative designs to help you achieve that cutting edge in your show quilts and full custom client quilts. We will explore the age old question when to stitch in the ditch and when to ditch the stitch, and change the way you view sashings for ever. If you’re tired of the same old loops, hearts and bows then come and experience a new age in quilting designs.

*This Class features some of the designs found in Sue's new book "Adaptable Quilting Designs*
